These pictures were taken this afternoon (September 20, 2006) at Central Middle School in Lawton, OK. We estimate 900 pinwheels for planted in our front lawn. We wanted them to be up for the following day bright and early. The pinwheels were made from colored paper, coat hangers which had been straightened out, and marshmellows which were placed on either side of the paper pinwheel to hold them in place. The students had beautiful creative writings on the inside of the pinwheels. My favorite is: Peace is a butterfly in the middle of the lake, landing softly on a water lily.
